OS-tan Vault

FAN

The OS-tan Vault (OSたん保管庫) is the first known dedicated gallery for Nijiura OS-tan art. Moeverse dates its establishment to 25 August 2003 — nineteen days after Me-tan. It is the closest thing the phenomenon has to a contemporary contents page.

A 4 October 2003 homepage archive already lists MS-DOS-tan, 98-tan, NT-tan, Me-tan, 2000-tan, XP-tan, and Dr. Norton. By the last homepage updates in October 2004: Ōbaba (3.1), 95-tan, CE-tan, Longhorn-tan, Saba-tan, Lindows-tan, Linux-tan, Buster, McAfee, Mac-tan. Moeverse's last known working homepage archive is 9 June 2010, with content that had not moved since 2004.

The Vault also stated there were no hard setting rules, only existing works as reference — the same idea as Shinjuku's 'as many worlds as artists' line. It warned against republishing off-site. Those two facts together explain OS-tan: a strong shared look, almost no official plot, and a messy English paper trail.
