FAN vs CORP
METAEnglish pages about OS-tan usually smash two different things together: anonymous Futaba drawings from 2003, and paid mascots from Microsoft partners after 2009. This wiki does not. Every character page carries a stamp.

Why the split matters
If you search 'Windows 7 OS-tan' you will get Nanami Madobe, because she had a PR budget. Futaba's Seven-chan is the OS-tan in the original sense: a board design, by Shimuro, the same year. Both can be documented. Only one is FAN.
Same trap for Windows 11. 11-chan is Shimuro / Nijiura. Ichika Madobe is Karv, named by a Reddit poll, boosted by a Windows Instagram reel. There is no official Windows 11 OS-tan.
Moeverse goes further and refuses to call Madobe characters OS-tans at all. This wiki documents them — searches will hit those names — but never without a CORP stamp. OSC mixed supporting app-tans into OS-tan lists because comics did. We keep app-tans on their own page.
OS TAN is not a third OS-tan universe pretending to be Futaba. She is labeled OURS so nobody has to guess.

OS-tanOS-tans are moe personifications of operating systems that started on Futaba Channel in 2003. Fan canon is not the later Microsoft mascot campaigns.
