FAN

Trouble Windows (とらぶる・うぃんどうず) is not an anime. It is a Flash animation published 19 April 2004 that pretends to be the opening of one. An ending exists too. Together they are the most-seen OS-tan object in the English-speaking internet.

Wikipedia tracks the first known appearance outside Futaba to Misfile on 28 April 2004. A YouTube copy in 2005 did the rest. The original publication page is dead; the Internet Archive still has the animation. OS TAN keeps OS-TAN TV because a desktop that can play a tape is better proof than a paragraph. Live is the 2004 openings, the songs, and the lore explainer.

The title stuck to merch. Ohzora's 2005 book is Trouble Windows OS-tan FanBook. English speakers sometimes say Troubled Windows. Same clip.

What the opening did, culturally: it arranged separate character designs into a group shot with music, which is how a meme becomes a 'cast.' People who never opened Futaba still know Me-tan's maid dress from that file.
