OS-Tan Collections published a List of Canon OS-tans limited to 'official designs that are universally accepted by all fans.' That sentence is doing a lot of work. OSC itself excluded one-shot designs and competing Vista looks. Futaba never voted. +Nijiura+ ran its own Mac OS X catgirls in parallel with Futaba's generic Mac-tan.

Practical rule used here:

1. If OSC listed it as canon and independent sources describe the same look (Me, 95, 98, 98SE, 2K, XP, Homeko, NT, 3.1, DOS, Linux, etc.), stamp CANON.
2. If it is clearly Futaba/Nijiura but later or contested (Seven-chan, Vista designs, 11-chan), stamp FAN and say so.
3. If it shipped as advertising, stamp CORP even when Wikipedia says 'OS-tan.'
4. If two popular looks exist, stamp DISPUTED and describe both.

XP-tan is the cleanest CANON case: XP Kaki-Aki / Nac drew her, allowed non-commercial fan use, and the SP2-era uniform is what everyone copies. Vista is the cleanest DISPUTED case: Chiivistan vs Vistake vs edition splits, and OSC would not freeze it.
