XP-tan

CANON

XP-tan is the popular personification of Windows XP Professional. Her human nickname is Saseko, from the way XP lines up with sa/se on a Japanese keyboard. XP Kaki-Aki (also known as Nac) designed her and allowed non-commercial fan use — one of the few creator permissions that English sources actually recorded.

The look shifted. Wikipedia's sequence: an early gynoid with ponytail and glasses; then a more revealing XP-marked design; then the SP2-era school-uniform version everyone copies. OSC and this wiki treat the uniform as default. She is often drawn with a rice bowl labeled Memory, or simply eating too much — XP's RAM reputation as personality.

Homeko is the XP Home twin, not a palette swap. Homeo is the male counterpart. Do not file them as one character. XP-tan is also the usual target of Norton jokes in older comics.

She is CANON in the OSC sense and the English-fandom sense. She is still FAN in the legal sense. She is not Nanami, not a Microsoft DSP girl, and not OS TAN.
