MS-DOS-tan (DOS Prompt in the earliest Vault wording) is MS-DOS as a shy girl: dark pigtails with DOS-shaped ties, round glasses, blouse, suspenders, a keyboard, often peeking around corners. She is in the 4 October 2003 Vault archive. XP Kaki-Aki is credited on Moeverse with DOS Prompt as well as XP-tan.

Resource jokes put her at the opposite end from XP: small appetite, small 'GUI.' She is not DOS-nuko (3.1's cat). Male or joke variants exist; the shy schoolgirl is the default English description.
